Harold Komiskey, PhD
Dr. Komiskey graduated from the University of Wisconsin in River Falls with a BS in Chemistry and Math, and a minor in Biology, and from the University of Wisconsin in Madison with an MS and then a PhD in Pharmacology with a minor in Medical Science/Physiology. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Toxicology.
Following his postdoctoral studies at The Ohio State University, he taught at the College of Pharmacy at Washington State University, the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford, and the College of Pharmacy at Xavier University of Louisiana. He has been doing basic research and teaching Pharmacology and Toxicology since 1978.
From 1992 to 2003, Dr. Komiskey was the program director of a Developmental Drug Abuse Research training program (MIDARP) at Xavier University, funded by National Institute on Drug Abuse. He has recently investigated the neurotoxicity of metals, a method to lengthen a possible treatment of cocaine addiction, and the neurotoxicity of methamphetamine.
Additionally, Dr. Komiskey has a well developed interest in tai chi, and has taught this discipline as a beneficial part of a personal healthy life style that he shares with students.
